If the machine stops consoleoutput just after the boot counters &
windmill then this looks like the console port problem.

IIRC, it was the 3rd MMJ connector to which the console is redirected,
so hook another terminal on the 3rd port, or hook the only terminal on
the 3rd port, and toggle the small switch next to the 8 status leds.
