I have this in /etc/bootparams:

xzan.falu.nl    root=azenomei.falu.nl:/vol1/rhialto/destdir.vax \
        swap=azenomei.falu.nl:/usr/export/swap-xzan \
        dump=azenomei.falu.nl:/usr/export/swap-xzan \
        gateway=azenomei.falu.nl:

in /etc/ethers:

08:00:2b:1b:4b:9e               xzan.falu.nl

in /etc/hosts:

10.0.0.7        xzan.falu.nl

I have to kill and restart rarpd every time I boot my sun:

kill `cat /var/run/rarpd.pid`
rarpd -l ne0

This gives the following log messages:

azenomei rarpd[28796]: xzan.falu.nl asked; 08:00:2b:1b:4b:9e replied
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: whoami got question for 10.0.0.7
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: This is host xzan.falu.nl
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: Returning xzan.falu.nl   NISDOMAIN    127.0.0.1
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: getfile got question for "xzan.falu.nl" and file "root"
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: returning server:azenomei.falu.nl path:/vol1/rhialto/destdir.vax address: 10.0.0.5
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: getfile got question for "xzan.falu.nl" and file "gateway"
azenomei rpc.bootparamd: returning server:azenomei.falu.nl path: address: 10.0.0.5

I hope this helps you to get the snapshot booted.
