For the 3100, that's the best to use, yes. I get (when I measured
unscientificly with dd if=/dev/zero) 600 k/s write speed out of it on my
scsi disk. Of course it's always better to build your own kernel, but
you'll need sufficiently new (newer than 1.4.1) kernel sources for the
DMASCSI support.
