The cksum is identical here.  So I do indeed have the same kernel.
Perhaps I have bad karma :|

As for the netbooting method, all other kernels netboot just fine
here, so I think that discounts the booting method as suspect.

Ragge, have you any patches to throw my way?   I could do the old 
standby with printf :D
