Thanks to Brian Chase and Michael Kukat, I have made some progress on
dealing with my netboot problems.

It now appears to me as though the VAX itself may be at fault, either
through a misconfigured switch or perhaps the 10Base-T transceiver.

Using 'tail -f /var/log/messages' I was able to monitor the goings-on
after I started the MOP daemon. It seems that the VAX is sending its query
'Do you have MOPBOOT?' to the Linux box, AND the Linux box is responding
'Yes.'

However... and this is the clincher... the VAX never comes back with 'OK,
send it to me!' It just keeps repeating the query.

I'm going to try a different cable and transceiver, but I would also
appreciate hearing from anyone who's tried to netboot with a DELQA
(M7516-YB) netcard. I cannot rule out the possibility that I've got a
mis-set switch.

	Thanks much!
