Excuse my for the intrusion. I am quite new to VAXes and NetBSD, although I
have years of experience in FreeBSD and Linux and other flavour of U*Xs. I'm
going to explain the antefact of my presence.

A big company in Italy (Nuovo Pignone, General Electric group) accepted to
donate to me a Digital VAX 4000 M200 and a series of VT200 and 300 terminals
for charity purposes (since I am a volounteer on an First Aid Sanitary
organization in Italy). The only way to use it - since I can't use the VMS
5.1 installed on it because I/we can't afford a license, and really we don't
need it at all!) is trying to install NetBSD and get a flavour of Unix
suitable for some of the organization's purposes.

I red all I could find on the web about the hardware on this VAX 4000/200
and NetBSD in particular (actually I lurk into the sources just for stoling
a portion of the x386 NetBSD code to use the Logitech USB mouse I've got at
home, since I didn't know other way to use it on Linux! ;-), and after a
study on the installation-vax howto, I', going to try to approach at the
installation.

I have three hard disk, one with the VMS, and two free (formatted) that
hosted an Oracle database in mirroring. I've got a SCSI tape drive and no
floppy, neither a SUN NFS server to BOOTP the Vax.

Do you think I could reach to succesfully install the NetBSD? is the
processor of this VAX supported (I red the '650' was, I've got the '660' if
I'm not wrong)? Can I install NetBSD from the SCSI tape? Any suggestion
before attempting the installation? or am I on my own?

If there is a particular thing to implement (for the processor support ecc.)
I will be glad to partecipate, if it's necessary, to get this machine
working.

Any help will be appreciated.
