Still no luck on the ttySx with a terminal or a modem.
Or with PPPD.

However, if I just say pppd, with no arguements, I get an attempt to
establish a ppp connection on my console terminal.

If I set up my /peers file to say /dev/console as my device, I get
squat.
I set up a script with /dev/console 9600 ....and so on.  Just to see if
my slection of 38400 was the problem.
I then did the same with ttyS0 (/dev/ttyS0 9600 ....) and get squat.
