Yes, those were the days. Where I worked we had a VAXcluster of one 8600
and two 11/785s as well as a CDC Cyber.

I actually used a 286 running DOS and something called Cylynx+ (French
software) to monitor the big iron. Called my beeper if one of them
didn't respond. So even a 286 could be useful.
