<recently.  He claimed to have found a (partial) fix to the lack of SCSI
<support in NetBSD for VS3100/xx systems.  I gather a few in the list did 
<his kernel and that it causes DMA error messages but more or less works

More specifically he had zerod in on SCSI support for some of the 3100s
that didn't have scsi support (or it was by PIO only).
