Well, NO ONE has a real disklabel on a disk that has just been formatted. The
way you get one is by creating one with disklabel(8). This procedure involves
accessing a raw device and causes a kernel panic.

You'd have to do this yourself. I'm not a NetBSD developer and not even a
NetBSD user really. I'm just being nice and letting your team make use of my
VAX hardware knowledge and methods, even though they have been developed for a
different VAX OS.
