It is 256k per tape.

<those tapes will have to be done with a system running VMS. TU58 is a bi
<unreliable, so if you do create those tapes, verify them carefully!

The drive roller tends to turn to goo over time making it useless(can be 
fixed however) and some tapes are old enough to vote in most countries.
however if the tapes aren't dead and the drive is good I''ve found them to 
be extremely reliable...and slow.

The optimal approach would be a booter on tu58 tape that can load a mag 
tape.

<If you can walk around it, to plug cables in the back etc. then it is
<positioned just fine. Don't shove it against the wall, leave a little 
<room.

Very important.  too close to the wall and airflow will be poor as well.

Note this is a medium sized system and it does a fair job of converting 
electical power to heat.
