Recently I aquired a VAXstation 3100 with an 8-bit color graphics
board and monitor. After power up the machine seems to perform
some kind of selftest (the diagnostic leds are flashing) and
displays some very strange (possibly broken) patterns on the
screen until the keyboard is initialized. I'm expecting the
usual boot prompt then but nothing happens (the console selection
switch is down). Does anyone know what's wrong? I have no
experience with VAXes, so I need some help here.
