Subject: Can anybody help with this?

I have been lurking here for quite some time, hoping eventually to glean
enough info to get a NetbSD system working on my MVIIs. One is a World
Box and another BA23, both using ESDI drives and Sigma RQD11
controllers.

In an attempt to be self-sufficient and not bother people with my
problems, I have tried to get a miniroot running using both the 1.2G and
1.3 versions ftp'd from NetBSD.org. I can only get so far. I have
tried using every combination of hardware and software using both boxes
and reliably come up with the following problems:

1. Version 1.3 loads its banner, then the system crashes with a
console corruption message and reboots.

2. Version 1.2 G reliably crashes in the following way, using, again
all combinations of hardware and software in my posession. Although the
following dump is using the drive as RA2 I also moved the disk to RA0,
re-formatted, reloaded 1.2G, and got the same results.

3. Both systems reliably run VMS
4. It looks to me like the image is corrupt, but I have downloaded
several times from both NetBSD.ORG and other mirrors.

5. Unfortunately, I don't have any other UNIX systems on site
at present, or i would try the net netboot procedure.

AM I missing something that you gurus do intuitively?

Any and all help greatly papreciated.

Regards,

Nigel Johnson
