FWIW, the same happens on both my VS2Ks with 1.3, with both GENERIC and
homemade kernels. On 1.2G it says:

[...]
ncr0 at vsbus0: scsi-id 7
scsibus0 at ncr0: 8 targets
[...]

but I haven't tried actually connecting anything to the SCSI port yet.
