Correction mayflower was supplied in the BA23 box and while the VCB02
can be put in their as you have power and backplane limits. Typical
was either VCB01 (or terminal console) and 4-16mb ram, DHV-11 or DZV11
and DEQNA. Over time the systems could and were mangled into many oddball
combinations. that could be made to fit without melting the power supply.

It would take up to 16mb in any combination of TWO PMI (over teh top
memeory connect) bus cards which at different time were available in
1/2/4/8 mb increments from DEC and 16mb cards from third party. Typical
was two 4MB or 1 8mb for a total of 9mb or a 4mb and an 8mb for 13mb.
At this time they were in common use a full 16mb was unusual and rare.

The big difference was using the BA123 box with twice the power, up to
5 storage trays and a larger backplane. The common config had /GPX
(VCB01/2) installed, DHV-11, RQDX3, DEQNA, TK50 and up to two RD54s
and a RX50. If the RX50 was pulled/disconnected you could have up to
4 rd54s. Typical ram was three 4meg cards for 13mb but systems with 16mb
were not uncommon using up to three cards. These are often found with
9/13/16mb of ram. The larger bus and power supplies made playing mix and
match common with this box as it was small and fairly easy to open and
work on.

I know as I have one of each with the VCBxx pulled (no monitor available).
