<16 MB seemed like a lot at the time, and this is only 10 years ago.  I
<would imagine VMS could do pretty well with that amount.

VMS can run happily in 4mb(at the time that machine was new) and with 16 
it does pretty well.  Even with current versions of VMS 8mb would do ok
though with 32mb or more the system flies.
