well, I slapped a second ethernet card in one of my FreeBSD boxes (AMD
5x86/133, 16mb ram), and found I needed to compile in bpf... so I did
that (while setting up the rest of the goodies)

So, I get it all set up and happy and go to boot.. heres what I get

the VAX sits at the -ESA0 waiting for MOP response, and the mop server
sits and does this over and over:

%/usr/local/sbin/mopd -d ed0
mopd: not running as daemon, -d given.
MOP DL 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 > ab:0:0:1:0:0 len 18 code 08 RPR
MOP DL 0:20:18:1:f6:13 > 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 len 1 code 03 ASV
MOP DL 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 > ab:0:0:1:0:0 len 18 code 08 RPR
MOP DL 0:20:18:1:f6:13 > 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 len 1 code 03 ASV
MOP DL 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 > ab:0:0:1:0:0 len 18 code 08 RPR
MOP DL 0:20:18:1:f6:13 > 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 len 1 code 03 ASV

then I smacked the break on the vax and got this:

MOP RC 8:0:2b:1d:9a:a4 > ab:0:0:2:0:0 len 54 code 07 SID

It doesn't seem to want to go... I applied the patches for FreeBSD 2.2+
machines (this one happens to be running 2.2.2-release) and it still
dislikes me.

I have tried running everything but 'mopd' on the freebsd box and mopd on
the linux box and it coughs out on that too (it does try to boot but can't
figure out rarpd is running somewhere else)..

Well, I'm gonna quit this for tonight... Storms are rolling through and I
don't have enough UPS power to run the VAX safely too so goodnight and
thanks for the help :)

Hmm... someone should hack out a new ROM for these things to make them a
bit more user friendly to boot (tftp/bootp or dhcp/nfs)

goodnight
