you need to copy the ufsboot into the new filesystem and point installboot
at that file.  so if your new filesystem is mounted on /mnt, this would be

  cp /usr/mdec/ufsboot /mnt
  /usr/mdec/installboot /mnt/ufsboot /usr/mdec/bootxx /dev/rsd0a
