i dont believe the previous errors posted had anything to do with 
bootparam, since my bootpd is configured fine
output from tcpdump on the server:

00:06:39.313902 xterm.1023 > 255.255.255.255.sunrpc: udp 96
00:06:59.307765 xterm.1023 > 255.255.255.255.sunrpc: udp 96

i get these two packets and then the sun waits for a while and gives me 
the errors in my previous mail.

any help is appreciated.
