It turns out that using __ps_strings (provided by crt0) causes
libc.so to be incompatible with existing programs that were
linked with libc.so.12.* because those might the old version of
crt0 that did not provide that variable.

I'm not sure we want to change the libc major version right now,
so I'll try out some alternative solutions this weekend.
