i'm sure that some channel in USENET would be a better place for this, but i
have gotten so fed up with USENET as of late, i don't really care to post
there anymore. it relates to the sun3 port though (sorta) so i guess it could
be considered 'on topic'.

i have a 28.8K Supra FAXmodem and i need some advice on what machine to put on
it. i'd really like to use the FAX capabilities so the machine it is on
should support FAX transmitions in some manner.

the machine options to put this on are:

SUN Sparc5 Solaris / built in Sparc5 serial port
SUN 3/180 NetBSD / 3004 "Carerra" CPU board serial port
PC NetBSD / 16550AFN serial port

this machine will also end up being a router. if at all possible i'd like to
keep it off of the sparc since it is getting overloaded as it is and doesn't
need any extra work to try and do. eventually i'd like to move to a firewall
on the routing machine and i think one of the 3/180's would be ideal for this.
the only question is, will NetBSD support FAX, and how fast/efficient is the
sun3-3004 CPU board? the 386 running NetBSD could do this pretty well i guess.

i don't know, what is your $.02?
