I think it's more than likely related to my slightly older -current build
(possibly caused by my broken file(1)). I normally track pkgsrc HEAD and
the same packages that aren't working on -current sparc64 are working fine
on a 3.1 alpha system. It's only the -current system that's giving me grey
hairs :)

I've started a native release build now - hopefully once that's installed
it will sort out at least some of my issues...
