Not really, the XVR-100 is a Radeon 7000 with Sun firmware if I remember
correctly, so no, machfb can't handle it. Garrett d'Amore is working on
a Radeon driver, maybe we'll be able to use parts of it.
Right now there's only ofb ( not in the source tree ) which will work
with any PCI graphics board but it's SLOW, featureless and probably a
victim of bitrot. So, until we have something to handle the Radeon the
best option is to stick to the Elite3d.

This should have been fixed in -current long ago, the 3.0 installer
worked just fine on my U1 with two cgsix.
