Hi, I've just installed NetBSD-3.0-RELEASE and build a few GTK2 applications
from current pkgsrc. I noticed a very poor performance with GTK2 applications,
for example vim-gtk2, resising a window takes about 3-4 seconds for everything
to be redrawn, maximising a window takes even longer about 6 seconds and X
server consumes a large amount of CPU time. Acceleration on framebuffer is
enabled.

Booting NetBSD-3.99.7 which was installed on the second hard disk on 18 Aug
2005 and there is no delay when resizing windows in GTK2 applications, i.e.
everything is performing very well. It's the same machine, same hardware, just
a different NetBSD version.

I'm going to copy packages from NetBSD-3.99.7 and install them on NetBSD-3.0
and see if that makes a difference, in case it's the problem with the latest
version of GTK2. But I have a strong feeling it's something to do with
NetBSD-3.0

Hence my question: does anyone know why NetBSD-3.0 performs so poorly? What
should I do to resolve this?

If you need more info, i.e. Xserver log files, etc. let me know.
