VIA USB chips are usually uhci and for USB2.0 you need ehci too or
you'll be limited to USB 1.1speed.

Did you try another slot? My U10 doesn't see anything in the topmost
slot for some reason.

No, the card should at least be recognized, but the ohci driver almost
certainly won't work with it.

No. The FAQ entry is about booting from IDE cards, the U5/U10 firmware
has no USB support at all. It shows my OHCI card as 'usb@2' or so, but
that's it, no child devices or anything useful.
