Ok, so it is the resolution - I'll have a look at the driver. Maybe it
tries to enforce 80 characters per line.

It shouldn't - as far as I can tell the driver should never attempt to
change resolution on its own. There's code in it to do that but it's
unused on sparc64 ( in fact I've never checked if it even works... ).

umm, by 'back to 800x600' - did you mean the distortions are back?
