You forgot a few things:
- the new server is almost certainly some sort of XFree86. It needs root pr=
ivileges to access your graphics hardware, that's why it usually has the se=
tuid bit set. Apparently you unpacked it without giving tar the p option so=
this bit got lost ( fix: chmod +s /usr/X11R6/XFree86 )
- the 'unsupported keyboard' message sounds like Xsun. Make sure /usr/X11R6=
/bin/X (should be a symlink ) points to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86.
btw. the ffb patches should be in -current these days.
