Oh, in that case you should probably try to use the compiler from
pkgsrc/lang/gcc3 (or gcc3-c and gcc3-c++).

If that fixes the problem, please file a PR with this information so the
pkgsrc people can fix the mysql pkg by requiring a modern compiler.
