Hello

I'm new to this mailinglist. My name is Mattias Dahlberg from Sweden, and I
recently bought an Ultra 5 after using an Ultra 10 at work. I ran Solaris on
it in the beginning, but a few days ago I got the interesting idea, at least
I thought so at the time, to install Linux on it! Now...I seem to have made a
mistake here. When I installed Linux, it asked me how I would like to boot
it. Would I like to perhaps install SILO in the Master Boot Record?
Dumb as I where I answered yes to that question. And now for the real problem:

How do I restore the MBR? (I tested a few distros so I cannot use the backup
which was stored in /boot, as I realised afterwards.(!))
I've read a lot about NetBSD and would really liek to try that instead. But I
can't install Solaris.

Can the MBR be salvaged or restored somehow? Or will I need to get a new
disk?! And in that case, can I get any disk?
Isn't it a normal IDE drive? Or has SUN done something to it?

Is there a kind soul out there who knows how I should proceed?

Am I doomed running Linux forever?

Thank you beforehand...
/Mattias Dahlberg, Sweden.
