Is it practical to run a 32bit sparc64 kernel with sparc32 userland?

i do this on my ultra1 -- i need a stable system & compiler and the
ultra1 was tagged "it" a month or two ago, so i had to "downgrade"
it to a 32 bit userland.

the future plans will be to have the 64 bit kernel capable of running
either userland, with maybe only a few exceptions... we're most of the
way there, but still a lot of issues to resolve. the broken compiler
certainly doesn't help....
