You can just replace the old kernel with the new one. You can also
have both kernels at the same time and decide which you want to use at
boot. In openboot type "boot disk kernelname" where kernelname is the
filename of whichever kernel you want to use. I think the latter
option is better so you have a backup kernel in case something goes
wrong.
