Were there any reports that the newer bootblocks do not work with
older sun4m firware?

Meanwhile I've got the oldest release OBP Version for SS-10 (Thanks, Volkert!).
But the install CD boots under OBP v.2.7 with no problems:

Should the problem be reprodicible when booting from the 6.1.5 install CD?

If yes, probably the OBP version numbering between the sun4m and sun4c
machines was not uniform.
