There's a native ftpd in netbsd; see ftpd(8).  I've used it several times on
old hardware like a sparc 1+ and more recently a i386 pentium 100MHz.
If you plan to use your FTP only internally as a quick file sharing system, I guess the one in base is more than enough? It is low-weight and has good performance also on our "classics". Try it and replace it only if you feel you need some feature more.
