There are only the usual boot messages regarding the devices like NIC and graphic card which seem OK.
Seems to me as if the HD is somehow infunctional.Yes, I fear this disk is dead. Even if it starts stopped, the kernel should send a start unit command on first read. I suspect the drive really can't be started.
I try another one I still have just to be sure it is the HD and - hopefully - not the SCA connector.
