i'm not sure we should bother with doing this.

i'd rather leave the sun-compat Firm_event as-is and switch everything
over to using wscons or something else that already solves this.

Xorg already builds and works on sparc, the only problem is that not all drivers have been ported over ( I think I ported suncg6, ag10e and wsfb ). I don't think it makes much sense to bother with xf86 here.

i think the posted patch should be commited, at least for now ... it
makes things build and run for at least another 29 years...

Agreed.

Also, if the problem is Xsun then Xorg should already do the right thing since the only graphics chip Xsun supports acceleration on is CG6 which is already supported and the dumb framebuffers should work with wsfb.
