Xorg already builds and works on sparc, the only problem is that not  
all drivers have been ported over ( I think I ported suncg6, ag10e and  
wsfb ). I don't think it makes much sense to bother with xf86 here.

Agreed.

Also, if the problem is Xsun then Xorg should already do the right  
thing since the only graphics chip Xsun supports acceleration on is  
CG6 which is already supported and the dumb framebuffers should work  
with wsfb.
