Well, since there is no such thing as a CG6 text mode - we always run 
graphics - it looks like you already did.
X should work just as well since it doesn't change video modes either - 
it uses whatever it finds.
Could you please post your dmesg output?

Maybe ask Tadpole for docs? This device probably does stuff like 
controlling the LCD's brightness, backlight etc and would therefore be 
nice to support.
