thanks for the hint, but I'm afraid this doesn't work for me.
ifconfig hme0 tcp4csum
ifconfig: SIOCSIFCAP: Invalid argument
after looking into the man pages, there is also no hint on my system
(NetBSD 2.1).
Maybe this is a feature of a newer version of NetBSD?
