Yes, you're correct. Extra pins in the 80-pin SCA connector, over and  
above the usual 68-pin (or 50-pin I guess) control the SCSI ID, feed  
the drive power and possibly some other bits and pieces.

I have a few 68-pin to SCA converters which take a 68-pin cable, a  
regular molex power plug and a small jumper block on one side of the  
PCB, and present an 80-pin SCA connector on the other.
