Ah, but you forget that a SCSI bus is correctly terminated at both* ends.

and thus one missing terminator still leaves it staticly OK - but
liable to reflections which usually don't cause a problem if the
bus is short (for appropriate values of short) but cause increasing
failure rates for longer or faster buses.
