I have. I just took the ISO off of the netbsd ftp site, burned it,
booted it, and installed it. It's both at home and off right now
but tonight I'll try to remember to boot it and grab the dmesg. It's
a SS5/170 with (I think) 256meg of memory and the TCX card plugged in.
That, a disk, and a cd is all.

I also run 3.0 just fine on a SS4/110. It basically gets shutdown only
when I have to move it. I just logged in and uname shows:

NetBSD bellinzona 3.0 NetBSD 3.0 (GENERIC) #0: Mon Dec 19 04:01:27 UTC 2005 builds@b3.netbsd.org:/home/builds/ab/netbsd-3-0-RELEASE/sparc/200512182024Z-obj/home/builds/ab/netbsd-3-0-RELEASE/src/sys/arch/sparc/compile/GENERIC sparc

Without rembering exactly, I believe the ISO I used would have been:

ftp://iso4.de.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/3.0/sparccd-3.0.iso

It's got about the right date and it's geographically close.

You could try just the GENERIC kernel from one of the current builds and
see if that goes better. Just the kernel should give you some clue as
to whether or not that's the problem.

You also could try removing the cgsix and the keyboard and booting
using the serial console. Sometimes you get more info that way.

Is there a possiblity you have a hardware problem?

cheers

bruce
