It's already in 2.0 - take a look in /etc/ld.so.conf:
libc.so.12 machdep.cpu_arch 8:libsparc_v8.so.0,libc.so.12 9:libsparc_v8.so.0,libc.so.12

My SPARCV8 machines are quite a bit faster when using the V8 optimizations.
