I'm running a 2.0 userland and a -current kernel - lost a lot of time to get pkgsrc running...

Umm, just build a kernel with wsdisplay* at cgsix?, wskbd* at kbd? and wsmouse* at ms? - it's all in -current now. This should give you full wscons ( well, no virtual consoles but at least acceleration )
