Subject: pthreads broken on microsparc-I?

Decided to run -current on my SPARCclassic DSL router, updated bind-9.2.2
out of pkgsrc to take advantage of the native threads ...
... and discovered, to my dismay, that the named process instantly went into
state "REll". As did spamass-milter, spewing a pthread assert error to
the console before locking the machine hard. Regrettably, I was unable to
transcribe the message.
Is anyone successfully using threaded applications on sparc with -current?
I can't reproduce this on my ss10, primarily because it's SMP and therefore
won't run threads anyway ...
