   I've got a 1.6 CD...so I guess I'm effected.  Are there directions or
   how to do the workaround anywhere?  Or even better, is it possible to
   install right from -current?  It didn't look like it from the CD, and I
   don't have a floppy drive. :-/


if you boot the cd as normal and instead of installing just take
the shell option.  from there you should be able to mount the
root partition, the cdrom media and copy a kernel into the root
partition....
