the system has also started to time out putty sessions.

this is my 3rd attempt to build gmp from sources.

these are the last 3 lines before the system froze:

checking for processor_info... no
checking for read_real_time... no
checking for sigaction... yes
checking for sigaltstack...

anyone have any idea what's going on?

is there anyway i can dump information to a file so that someone can take
a look at it when i power-cycle the system again?
