A few weeks ago there was a discussion here on setting compiler
optimization flags for best performance on certain machines. It seemed
to make a significant difference, at least in some cases.

Is anyone here aware of any documentation as to which flags should be
set for which machines? What I'm looking for, if it exists, is something
like:

...
Sparcstation 2 -mfoo -mbar
Sparcstation IPX	-mfoo -mbaz
Sparcstation LX -mfribble	-mbar
Sparcstation 20 (Ross 150)	-mblech
...

Older Suns still have plenty of life in them for non-techie users and
can be incredibly cheap but many newer GUI applications (which
non-techies usually prefer to use) can use all the help they can get in
the performance department :-) Small improvements can go a long way in
user satisfaction.
