I have painfully determined, through trial and error and search
of the solaris 8 install cd's the following list of packages to install:
-rw-r--r--  1 pts  users  2509897 Sep  1  2000 SUNWcsl

-rw-r--r--  1 pts  users    51619 Oct 22  1999 SUNWlibms
-rw-r--r--  1 pts  users  2383812 Sep  1  2000 SUNWmfrun
-rw-r--r--  1 pts  users    52602 Jan  7  2000 SUNWxwice
-rw-r--r--  1 pts  users  8129521 Sep  1  2000 SUNWxwplt
drwxr-xr-x  2 pts  users      512 Nov 21 16:39 SUNWxwrtl

Took hours. Finally after all were installed I had no more lib
not found messages and went to run communicator only to
get :   Illegal instruction           communicator
(killed).

The fact that it happens to "mention" in the sparc FAQ
that it's the 2.5.1 version of communicator, "now" suggests
to me that it ought to be 2.5.1 solaris libs not solaris 8.

Could anyone confirm this, that 2.5.1 would be highly
recommended, or am I about to spend another 5 hours
barking up the wrong tree?

thanks for your reply btw, has run it with 2.6 libs.

It's just the FAQ instructions are not clear as to what
solaris libs are required.  It just seems to talk of "solaris"
libs.
