Hmm, I have a similar problem ( on i386, but I don't think it's CPU 
specific ) with Mozilla 1.1 built from official sources - whenever it 
tries to connect to anything it sends some DNS query, doesn't try 
anything else and then claims 'connection refused'. Maybe that's 
somehow related.
