Does dd work w/ non-identical disks?  I've had problems where it wouldn't.

That's what we did when I worked for Raytheon. Fill a project lab with
SS5 or SS20 boxes. Install one box and then clone with dd. You could put
4 junior admins on the job, and 100 systems would be done in no time.
