I don't suppose you have any more detailed instructions you could
give me for either of these two suggestions?

Unfortunately, that isn't an option. While I do have a FreeBSD
machine in the house, it doesn't have the disk space to be a netboot
server, and it's on a different network going through an 802.11b base
station (doing DHCP & NAT) that I doubt understands how to direct
incoming netboot requests to a particular back-end server.

I would like to get the FreeBSD machine on the same network, but
while I managed to cook up a /etc/pccard.conf entry for the Belkin
F5D5020 10/100Base-TX PCMCIA card, and FreeBSD does see to recognize
the card, I haven't been able to get it to successfully use it. The
only network connectivity I've been able to get working for the
FreeBSD box is 802.11b WiFi (although I do have some different cards
from different manufacturers available to me).
